When I was a kid, I used to sample flower petals - I vowed never to do it again now that I know that some wasps find orchids attractive.. if you know what I mean.
Did anyone else sample flowers as a kid? If so, aren't carnations the best!?
OK - I used to taste flowers?
You did this to put people off the scent.[HaHa,]
Reply:oh , even i used to , and v used 2 make sample 'lunches' out of flowers - daisies for rice , marigold for meat n all that! .... for me , i liked the taste of rose!!!!!
hey , nostalgia's bak , n thanks for reminding me of dose beautiful days!
Reply:Hahaha, Flowers taste good! Dog woods taste like crap! But the other flowering tree (I forget its name) is really good. So are violets. I haven't tasted carnation, but I like rose. Honey suckle was great fun, I used to try and mke tea out of honey suckle. One time I made ice cubes with flower petals in them for a victorian tea party I was preparing for my sister and I...Darn, cusre those wasps, STAY OFF MY PETALS!!!
This made me smile!
Reply:I used to eat dandelions and honeysuckles. I still eat honeysuckles but I just suck the nectar out of em.
Reply:Daisies and carnations were my favorite.... woooo!!! i found someone who shares my taste in carnations. If you give someone flowers and they say you have good taste say well yeah of course these ones were yummy!
Reply:i use to try and crystalize my own rose petals...
Reply:The saying goes "Stop and smell the flowers/roses" Not stop and eat them. No i never did that, but i did eat grass
Reply:no. maybe i should try carnations sometimes.
Reply:No. Nasturtiums are the best, followed by pansies. Not only do they taste great, but they make wonderful salad garnish. BTW, we're all eating flower petals when we eat artichokes. And eating flowers doesn't just have to be about the petals. With honeysuckle, you can actually suck the "honey" (nectar) out of the bottom of the blossom if you pluck it just right. However, you are correct to note that all plant eating, if done on site, rather than done by harvesting and washing, needs to be done with caution so as to avoid any nasty insect surprises. But on that note, there are a great many tasty insects out there. On the whole, we Americans are way too squeamish about what we eat. It makes for a very limited cuisine and is wasteful of potential food resources.
Reply:haha no but i did eat honeysuckles and still do
Reply:WTF?!?!?!?! Something is wrong with you. ROFLMFAO
Reply:That was a thing i did once in awhile and my mom would get mad about the missing flowers, there are some flowers they use for salads and things now. Most are edible.
Reply:Yeah, I ate dandelions... But judging how my mental state is now, I think that those dandelions were "spiked" with pesticide...
Ooohhh the pretty colors...
What are the voices telling me to do??? Where am I suppose to shove that steak??
Reply:Yeahh! I always thought that was just me! Sweet! Im not alone! =]
Reply:Once I was putting deodorant on and it smelled sooooooooo good I couldn't help myself...I gave it a lick...it was horrible...kinda like baking soda in your mouth...maybe I should have just tried eating flower petals...
