What flowers would you use for weddings.....?

I am getting married in 2009, and trying to make final decisions on what flowers to use, not ordering yet of course, just need to get ideas before I get prssed for time in a year after putting it off....

Heres why I ask the question....

Our wedding colors are red, black and white.

I am wearing a white dress with red trim and some beading

I dont want a white bouquet for me. Would prefer one for

bridesmaids.

I do have my heart set on a red bouquet... but dont like the

bouquets with daisies ( I want big flowers like daisies

or roses though)

Here's where it gets difficult, we are a picky couple and are

trying to be a little different

He doesn't like roses for the bouqet ( and doesnt want to

use them) And I don't like daisies.

I am budgeting so nothing too expensive. (June wedding)

I want something elegant.

I do like calla lillies, but cant find in red, thought about carnations but still open to suggestions.

What flowers would you use for weddings.....?
ok.. so here is where you are.. colors do not have to be completely done through the flowers..

I love the classic look of the red rose bouquet.. on the red and white dress... but if it's not you it's not you.. Love gerbera daisies... red tulips do sound right for you.. white tulips for the girls.. wrap your handle in white.. the girls handles in black with red dresses.. love tulips for you. for your ceremony and reception.. love gerbera daisies.. red is fantastic.. callas do come in red.. but you have or order them as a mini calla.. it's not bright red but a good florist can dye them to a deep red color. Any good florist will show you books.. but it all depends on the style of wedding.. how many girls you need to fit in to the budget, inside outside? so much.. you need to find a good florist and sit with them. last tip.. from the bottom of my heart. do not plan your wedding to death.. too many details is like too many features in a car.. the more you have the more there is to break.. if a detail is going to ruin your day then you shouldn't plan so many details... just enjoy your day..
Reply:The only real red flowers out there are roses, carnations...(which are too common and alot of older people like them because they are "cheap") gladioli's, gerbera daisies, tulips-( do not last long out of water but good for centerpieces),

I suggest tropical, they are expensive but you can get away w/ less flowers for your bqt. ( anthurium, ginger, heliconia etc...) they do have calla lilies in a burgundy.

yeah, you do sound "picky" good luck and go to the florist fully prepared.

open up ANY and all magazines, cut out any pictures you like, we/ they can mimic.
Reply:they have a kind of flower that are kinda like daisy's

but they are called Gerberers? (that might be spelt wrong)

but for flowers you should just use your favorites :)
Reply:I love roses. And they come in a bunch of different colors. Go with roses. =]
Reply:What about a bouquet of red tulips?
Reply:sounds beautiful and I'm pleased to hear that you are leaning toward a red bouquet instead of black, because a truly black flower has yet to be cultivated... i google imaged a bouquet you might think is PERFECT! this bride is lovely and the bouquet unique. let me know what you think!? I hope the link comes through...

Reply:Hi and congratulations!

Why no roses.....I love roses...red roses are so romantic.

But...it's your call. DO NOT use carnations....they are not elegant at all. Carnations should be for a baby shower!

Anyway....why not simply go to a florist? They have books and books for you to look through. That is what we did for both my daughter's wedding and my son's wedding. They can guide you and suggest flowers for you and stay within whatever budget you have! That is their business!!

I would go to a florist. Look through bridal magazines to get ideas too! My suggestion would be a bouquet of red roses for you and ivory for your bridesmaids.....but, again, I love roses...they are elegant and also say "romance"! Another idea for you would be red tulips.

Another suggestion....don't do gerbera daisies...the BIG "daisies" ...they don't do good in bouquets...they wilt easy.

But, again, I would go to a florist. They are more than willing to sit down with you and toss around ideas.

Good luck!
Reply:those are similiar to the colors for my wedding...im gonna have champaigne, black and a deep red...

but for flowers my suggestion is white lillies and deep red roses but since he does not like roses you could go with orchids...thats really pretty or peonies are gorgeous as well!!
Reply:I love tiger lillies, but it's a bit expensive so I am sticking to the traditional roses !
Reply:how about go for tulip...check this website, you might get some ideas for your wedding..http://www.bouquetgarden.com/wedding_flo...
Reply:I'm thinking you might end up choosing roses just because that's where the widest selection is going to be. Check out Black Magic roses-they are so dark red that they appear almost blackish, Fire and Ice roses-white roses with red kissed petals. These are just a few. Speak to your florist and get her/his suggestions before you decide.
Reply:i can NOT believe that that person who claims to be a professional wedding planner said that those colors dont match!!! is she crazy? i mean really.. she DEF needs another job.. i would never hire her! i mean what planet does she live on? red, black, %26amp; white is not something that i would do for my wedding but comeee onnnn.... they are soooo gorgeous together! i just prefer softer colors.. but i think those colors are great together so dont listen to that so called "professional!" as for the flowers.. how about anthuriums?

that would be really different.. with big black leaves http://www.justfruitsandexotics.com/Taro...

(dont know what they're called) surrounding the outside of them... that would really make a statement!
Reply:What about tulips, they come in red, white and black.
Reply:hey congrats !

I think you choose different colors for your wedding
