Flowers for people with allergies (wedding)?

Are there flowers suitable for a wedding that don't trigger allergies? Maybe orchids? I really want to go with fresh flowers rather than silk. Thanks.

Flowers for people with allergies (wedding)?
Aim for flowers that dont' have huge stamens like orchids, hydrangea, birds of paradise, stephanopholis, etc. If you do go with ones that do like lillies or roses you can try to snip the stamens to help.

It depends on the person and what their allergy is. Talk with them. Some people are allergic to all flowers, some only to certain ones. Some are allergic to the scent and still others are only allergic to the actual pollen so if a flower is well cleaned beforehand they won't have an issue.

If you are worried about some random allergy and don't have a specific guest in mind then I wouldn't concern yourself too much. Most of the time when somebody is THAT allergic they give the bride a heads-up or take medcation.
Reply:Keep in mind that flowers that are cut out of your garden are not the same as what a florist has. I am deathly allergic to anything out of the garden at home, but those same flowers at the grocery in the floral dept don't bother me at all. Scents don't bother me though. So there is no reason to ban fresh flowers if you really want them. Just don't grow your own at home.
Reply:If you're talking about yourself or a specific person in the wedding party, I would suggest taking Claritin the few days before and the day of. If they're allergic to pollen there aren't really any flowers that don't have that unless you want to go with a leafy look--herbs and leaves and such. If you're really that concerned about guests in general go with silk, but as far as I know most guest aren't bothered and those that are know there will be flowers at weddings and should prepare themselves.
Reply:if one of your attendants has allergies you better speak to her! she may not be able to be around real flowers at all. i know you prefer real flowers but i can guarantee you won't like her having an allergy attack in the middle of your wedding! allergy attacks range from a bit of a headache, to sneezing to all out gasping for air and trying to breathe! and lets face it her health is more important than anything.

if you are speaking in general, everyone's allergies are different. so you can't say 'ok i won't have roses, just in case!'

for example i have many allergies, not the least of which is perfume! that is a huge trigger for many many folks with allergies. as much as i love lilacs i can not be anywhere near them, yet marigolds and mums don't bother me!

whatever you decide please make sure you speak with whoever the person is that has the allergies!

wishing you the happiest of weddings!
Reply:I dont really know a whole lot.... it would depend on if they are allergic to pollen? I'm not really sure if there are flowers without pollen (or if all pollen is the same type!) haha sorry I'm not much help.
Reply:Orchids might be a great idea. Carnations shouldn't be too bad, but stay away from any kind of asiatic or oriental lilly, roses, and tuberose for sure. Just the scent from those can set some people off! I love them, but others are really allergic.
Reply:a lot of tropical flowers tend to work better for people with allergies. And yes, orchids are considered tropical flowers.
