It could be that the trees roots took all the water causing your plants to die. I'd check to see how much soil there is below the tree before planting there again. Also, is there enough sun? I love to buy plants on clearance this time of year. Just planted beautiful groundcover roses, rainbow gaura, and asters. Pansys are looking great just out now, daylilies could work and seem to do well beneath trees in my experience. Good luck finding what you want!
Reply:I don't know how the weather is there, but mums are being sold up in Massachusetts now. They are usually best planted in cooler weather (hence they are the flower of November).
Reply:mums
Reply:you can plant anything that comes from a bulb. they will just keep on growing year after year!
Reply:Daylilies should work. Maybe I've just been lucky, but I've thinned mine out and moved them to other places in the yard at this time of year. And they've always done just fine. I'm in the D.C. area, so I would think they'd be just fine in Texas.
Reply:You could plant Mums and Primroses. Not very original but they work… I want you to know that your answer to my question was rude, judgemental and hypocritical. You think highly of yourself ,which is fine, but do not condemn others for having the same sort of misunderstandings that YOU yourself have had. My question about Latinos was no more ignorant than yours about blacks. How quickly we forget to take the rafter out of our own eye while bashing someone else. My question had no ill will, and you should try to be a little kinder, even to those to whom you feel superior in morality. You are not as superior as you think. Maybe you are teaching me about the word ‘elitist’ and you are the meaning. Thanks for the lesson. Try a little kindness and understanding. Nobody has the right question all of the time – not even you.
Reply:What a coincidence...we are in September in Georgia too!!!

Pansies should be available soon. Mums are another good choice. Those are the only ones I can think of for instant color. m
Reply:I just planted mums and they look beautiful, this is the perfect time of the year for mums
Reply:Go buy some mums they will be beautiful around trees. As for seeds maybe but the plants are faster and look good right away.
