Silk Wedding Flowers?

I am considering having silk wedding flowers instead of real. Has anyone done this and had problems? Also, if I do silk flowers, do the boutineres have to match our bouquets? Or can we just get a smaller flower with similar colors? Thanks so much!

Silk Wedding Flowers?
Theres nothing wrong with using silk flowers for a wedding. I have seen some really pretty silk bouquets. I am not sure if they should match but definately should cordinate with the bouquets. I think you probably could use similar colors, just make sure everything cordinates well together. Just do what you like, after all its your special day. And good luck. One word of advice though-make sure you have people around you that will actually help instead of causing chaos. Because its lots of planning and something is almost always forgotten.
Reply:Silk flowers are the best. They make these in all colors, and can make up any arrangement you request. For the matching boutonnieres, its your choice. They will be there to advise. Some shops, like Michael's in North Attleboro, MA, have a station located near the silk flowers, with a full=time person just to answer and assist with flowers, take orders for flower arrangements, etc. If they don't have it in stock, they can get it for you.

You can go in, and don't have to walk and shop. It is all there for you, tell the sales clerk the things you want.

They may have fancier shops, although the service I got here was excellent.
Reply:I have seen some b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l silk wedding flowers. Take a look at these

Reply:We did. I still have all my wedding flowers. Which makes them a true treasured memory. They are spread out through the house. I used various shades of blue and white
Reply:Sage is summer or spring to me but not every single color needs to be in season. You should put the sage someplace else though, if it is only on the girls' dresses it might look a little out of place.

Silk flowers are great....if you buy good silks. They don't wilt, they don't have an overpowering fragrance like some flowers can, nobody can be allergic to them, and you can sell them afterwards and get some money back. That being said if you go buy silks from the dollar store that scream "SILKS!" it might look bad. Also if you are doing rose petals you should always go with real. No matter how good the fake scattered petals always look a little harsh. Don't get them from the florist. They charge a ton for something that requires no skill. Go to the grocery store the night before and get like a dozen roses and pick them off yourself. Takes like 10 mins.
Reply:I am doing silk flowers at my wedding. I am excited because then I will have a keepsake forever. Make sure you don't skimp and buy cheap flowers though, some of them make really cheesy bouquets.

As for the boutineres, you can do whatever you want!

They also make scents you can put on your flowers to have that "fresh flower" smell.
Reply:REAL Brides only carry REAL flowers. Jennifer Aniston did not carry faux flowers . . Jennifer Lopez did not carry silk flowers . . Katharine Zeta-Jones did not carry faux flowers and neither should you.

Fake flowers look fake! There is nothing nice or pretty about them.

On more than one occasion I have seen bridesmaids' bouquets and bridal bouquets fall apart as those people walk "down the aisle" because they were put together by the Bride or her Mother or one of her friends.

Have your bouquets made of REAL flowers. Ask for small bouquets and/or single flower bouquets (all carnations, all mums, etc). Or ask for all seasonal flowers for example . . daffodils and tulips in the spring, sunflowers in August or September, mums in the fall.

You will never regret walking down the aisle carrying REAL flowers . . but you will regret walking down the aisle with faux flowers.
