Flowers in courtship? why? @recipients?

im just curious if anyone could tell me why flowers are so romantic to people in courtship type settings or otherwise romantic settings? im a lush by most standards but i just do not understand the flower thing....is it just the predefined idea of it being a gesture of such things? its odd to me, and most sweet things like this make perfect sense to me, looking for opinions of recipients experience thanks!

It's a present that shows you're thinking of them and want to please them.. similar to chocolates, but better for the figure, and more personal as you can get so many types - its a chance to show off about how much you understand what they like.
